Child’s View Montessori School has been serving families in Southwest Portland for nearly 36 years! We are currently offering Montessori education for children ages 3 months through 6 years, among 2 built-to-suit locations! Currently we have a few Primary openings due to a recent expansion!
Our Mission:
Following the vision of Dr. Maria Montessori, we aim to foster a supportive and collaborative environment. This encourages the growth of each child, family and staff member, creating a more peaceful and inclusive world.
Our Goals:
Observe each child
Assist each child in their self-construction
Encourage critical thinking
Allow for spontaneous learning
Guide growing inner discipline
Strengthen executive functioning skills
Foster independence, and further, interdependence
Maintain each child’s natural love of learning
Model respect for self, others and the environment
Discover and appreciate the similarities and differences among our world’s people and cultures
Understand the interconnectedness of all life
Support the unique developmental journey of each child and their family
Nurture extended community
Educate for peace and non-violence
Our Land Acknowledgment:
Consistent with our community’s mission of supporting diversity and inclusion in our learning environments, CVMS would like to acknowledge that the land we operate on is the original homeland of the Atfalati (at-fall-uh-tee), Kalapuya (cal-uh-poo-yuh), and Clackamas (CLACK-uh-mus) tribal nations. These tribes were revered for their unique lifestyle and culture which, due to their ideal geographic location, blended both coastal and plateau elements. It is our responsibility to disseminate knowledge about Indigenous peoples and our history with them. Our community honors and respects the Indigenous peoples still connected to this land, which is rightfully theirs. As a community, we commit to the struggle against the oppressive systems which dispossess Indigenous people of their land and denies them the right to self-determination. Rather than participate in the continued erasure of Indigenous peoples from history, CVMS commits to reflecting on systemic connections and building relationships with Native American communities through historical recognitions, academic pursuits, and partnerships.
What Makes us Special...
Our 2 properties are home to very intentional play yards and stunning gardens. Our Lake Oswego Campus sits next to the gorgeous Lake Oswego pathways and a filbert tree grove! Our special infant and toddler house is just a block away from the Fanno Creek Trail and a nice walk from Garden Home Park! All locations are eco friendly and work hard at being long-lasting, safe and sustainable environments for young children.
Extra Curricular Activities:
CVMS is proud to employ an aftercare team to plan daily and monthly activities for children who stay with us after 3pm. We additionally host several extra curricular classes on-site! This allows busy families the opportunity to offer their children experiences that support their growing interests, without the hassle of driving to and from various locations. Currently we offer classes from the following partners. Check out their websites for more information:
Soccer Shots
Hip Hop Dancing
Yoga
